I decided to make something for my nieces, nephews, and my boys for Easter. I wanted something fun so I decided upon chicks. Well my chicks look more like ducks, but they turned out great!
They turned out so cute that I think I shall share the pattern! :)
Slip stitch at the end of each round, chain 1 but do not turn -- chain 1 is for moving up to the next round only, does not count as a stitch
Worsted weight yarn and a G hook
Round 1: You can either start with a magic circle and sc 6 sts in it or chain 2 and sc 6 sts in the second chain from the hook
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around - sl st into 1st sc (12)
Round 3: *1 sc then 2 sc in the next stitch* around - sl st into 1st sc (18)
Round 4: *sc in the next 2 sts then 2 sc in the next stitch* around - sl st into 1st sc (24)
Round 5: sc around - sl st into 1st sc (24)
Round 6: sc in next 10 stitches - sc in the back loop only in the next 3 stitches - sc in the next 11 stitches

Rounds 8 - 10: sc around (24)
knot and cut thread
Add your eyes around row 4 right above the front loop only of round 6
Next is the beak
Find the 3 front loops left undone from round 6 -- with the top of the head facing toward you, slip stitch into the first loop to the right--sc and hdc in the same loop
In the next loop, dc-chain 1-triple-chain 1-dc
In the last loop hdc-sc-slip stitch
cut thread and weave in tail
Next is the wings
This will be the same for both sides. Locate the 3 front loops left undone from round 7--2 sc in each loop (6)
chain 1 - TURN - sc across (6)
chain 1 - TURN - sc in first stitch - hdc next - dc chain 1 triple in the next stitch - triple chain 1 dc in the next stitch - hdc in next - sc in last
cut thread
starting at bottom put 3 sc crochets up the side, sc in the next 3 stitches across the top, sc in the chain 1, chain 1, hdc in the next 2 stitches, chain 1, sc in the chain 1 space from previous round, sc in the next 3 stitches, and put 3 scs down the next side
Tuck in your tails
Body
Rounds 11 - 13: sc around (24)
Round 14: *sc in the next 2 stitches - sc decrease* around (18)
Round 15: *sc then sc decrease in the next* around (12)
stuff and add something heavy to make him stand - I used the marbles that are flat on one side (the fish tank ones) because they were large enough not to slip through the bottom
Round 16: sc decrease around (6)
cut and tie off and sew in tail
If you want to give him a bow tie, you can view the free pattern at Adaiha's blog3e33ew.
For the girls, I hot glued a bow with a crystal in the middle
Hope you have as much fun as I did making these!

Crochet Baby Dress
I have been working on a baby dress. After many times of taking apart what I had done, I finally came up with a dress I love. I have decided to share it with you :) I am also working on a video on how to make the dress. I hope to have it finished soon and posted on youtube.

13.-23. Repeat round 12.
Cut and Tie thread
To add beads, I use fireline fishing line. I use fireline because it doesn't rot like regular thread will do after too many washes.
Determine where you would like to place the beads in the white. I personally like them all the way across. Leaving a tail, go down between two double crochets, under and back up between the next two crochets. I am using yarn so that you can see what I am doing.
Tie the fishing line off--make sure you knot it several times and don't cut by the knots, instead weave the tail in after you knot it.
I added a flower to bottom of my dresses. I used the picot flower from SkaMama's blog.
Brand New
Hello Everyone!
I am brand new to blogging. I started this blog back in 2009 and posted once to it. I decided to start fresh and new with it. I deleted the other post and this will be the official new post.
I am a stay at home Mom. I have two boys who are 7 and 8. They are two wonderful kids! I enjoy taking trips to the bookstore with them, sitting down with coffee, and reading anything we can while there. I also love doing crafts with them.
I have been married for 9 years. My husband and kids are the greatest joy in my life.
I started my own business last summer. I have been selling my crafts at the local farmers market. Last summer I had my hand woven jewelry there. This season I will be bringing more! :) This season I hope to have some sewn baby dresses as well as crocheted baby dresses.
